In Earth Wisdom, Glennie Kindred writes, “Now we become aware that the Earth is no longer still but stirring. What has been curled up begins to unfurl; the first buds are swelling on the trees and Spring bulbs are pushing up through the Earth. Our acceptance of Winter is giving way to an urge to move forward and become active once again.”
“This is the time for initiation and healing, for reclaiming what has been lost and seeking new ways forward. It is a time for working with our intuition, for acting on inspired leaps of understanding and for expressing our deepest wishes, beliefs and feelings. Be open to communication from within, heed the signs and omens when you notice them and follow what has significance to you.”
“Imbolc is linked to the element of Air, the connective force, which unites and opens the channels between the seen and the unseen the inner and the outer worlds.”
Laura Miller in an Elephant Journal post writes about Imbolc in New England. She states that she recognizes this time of year by the surging and flowing of sap from maple trees – the awakening of nature.
Miller writers, “If winter is night and the regenerative sleep of the year, Imbolc is the hypnopompic state right before you wake up, where your last dreams are particularly vivid, and those are the ones you will carry with you. The richness of dreams you remember.”
In a yoga practice, we are always learning more about ourselves, learning about our tendencies and working towards intentions that have been set. This is a great time to notice and draw awareness to any subtle changes in the body or in your attitude. As the energy begins to stir on the planet, welcome this flowing energy into your practice. Use this energy to move through posture sequences, coordinating breath and movement.
“I celebrate my relationship with the Earth, with the land around me, and the power of the new growth cycle to bring transformation and change into my life. I celebrate the rising energy of the element Fire, the Sun, and the power to initiate and spark my imagination and m creaitivity. I celebrate the element Air and the many levels of communication that are open to me. I celebrate the element of Water and power of my emotions to move me, t touch my very Soul from within, so that I experience Spirit rising within me.” – Glennie Kindred
